Why I Became a Celebrant (and Why I Still Bloody Love It)

If you’d told me five years ago that I’d be standing in front of a crowd, telling love stories for a living, I probably would’ve laughed, adjusted my colour-coded calendar, and gone back to perfecting a design or moodboarding Japandi interiors.

But here we are. And I can honestly say becoming a celebrant was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

🥂 It Started With Love. (And London.)

In 2018, I was living in London—working in design, navigating big city chaos, and spending late nights debriefing with my best mate over oat lattes and heartbreaks. She was falling in love (with the man she’d later marry). I was unknowingly falling in love with the idea of weddings—not the cookie-cutter kind, but the ones that made you laugh, cry, and go, “Oh my god, that is so them.”

That’s when the seed was planted.

Fast-forward a few years and a few career pivots later, and I found myself back in Brisbane, surrounded by palm trees, big love, and even bigger emotions—ready to help people tell their stories their way.

💍 Why I Still Bloody Love It

Honestly? It’s the people.

I get to work with the most incredible humans—couples who aren’t afraid to break tradition, blend cultures, and celebrate their love unapologetically. Whether it’s a barefoot elopement in the hinterland, a glitter-soaked ceremony under a disco ball, or a classic affair with just a sprinkle of cheekiness—I’m there for it.

There’s something sacred (and wildly fun) about holding space for people to be their full selves, surrounded by the ones who know them best.

✨ Favourite Ceremony Moment Ever?

There’ve been tears (mine included), Beyoncé references, a surprise drag performance, and one unforgettable confetti cannon mishap. But if I had to choose one moment?

It was when a groom, mid-vows, pulled out a letter his partner had written him years ago, folded and worn from living in his wallet. “I read this on the train to work most mornings,” he said. “Now I get to say it back to you.”

We were all gone. Just puddles. The good kind.

🏳️‍🌈 Who I Love Working With

I’m proudly queer, inclusive, and here for love in all its forms. I work with:

  • LGBTQIA+ couples who want their ceremony to feel authentic, not performative.

  • Alt couples who care more about their story than seating charts.

  • Romantics and rebels who want a ceremony that’s equal parts heartfelt and hilarious.

Basically, if you’re looking for a Brisbane wedding celebrant who will treat your love like the main event (because it is), and keep things legally legit and emotionally epic—you’ve found your guy.
